GuideMate natively supports Google Contacts CSV exports. In a few clicks, you transfer your Google contacts into your client list and your labels automatically become tags.
Step 1: Export from Google Contacts
- Open contacts.google.com in a browser
- In the left menu, click Export
- Choose which contacts to export (all contacts, or a specific label)
- Select the Google CSV format
- Click Export — a
.csv file is downloaded
Step 2: Import in GuideMate
- Open GuideMate → Clients tab
- Tap the import icon in the top right corner
- Choose Google Contacts (not "GuideMate CSV")
- Select the
.csv file you just exported
Step 3: Choose which labels to import
A label selection screen appears. It lists all the labels found in your Google file.
- Check the labels whose contacts you want to import
* myContacts is unchecked by default — it is the Google label that groups all your contacts, so importing it would likely add unwanted contacts
- Tap Confirm to proceed to the preview
What to know
Contacts without a selected label: if a contact does not belong to any of the labels you checked, it is still imported — just without a tag. No contacts are lost.
Labels → tags: each selected Google label automatically becomes a tag in GuideMate. If the tag does not yet exist, it is created. You can then filter your clients by tag from the Clients tab.
Imported fields: name, email, phone, address, organisation and notes are taken from Google Contacts. Other fields (emergency contact, insurance…) remain empty and can be filled in the client record.
Undo an import
As with all imports in GuideMate, you have 30 days to undo the session from Profile → Import clients → Import history.
Prefer to import from an Excel spreadsheet or Google Sheets? See the Import via CSV tutorial for the classic flow.
